Electromagnetism and electricity
From electromagnetic technologies to electrical systems
Electromagnetic phenomena are at the heart of many industrial technologies, from miniaturized sensors to high-voltage equipment, as well as induction heating processes and electrochemical systems.
Over the course of its projects, SIMTEC has developed numerical models to analyze, design and optimize numerous applications involving electric fields, magnetic fields and induced currents.
Applications in electromagnetism
Our studies notably cover:
- MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems):
- capacitive sensors (accelerometers, pressure sensors);
- microactuators (microfluidic components, micromirrors);
- MEMS Switch.
- Induction heating:
- calculation of the transmitted power;
- analysis of induced current circulation;
- optimization of inductors and heating processes.
These studies make it possible to improve device performance while reducing development time and the number of experimental tests.

Applications in electricity
SIMTEC also works on issues related to electrical equipment and power networks, including:
- Electrical insulators, with the optimization of creepage distances to limit the risk of electrical arcing.
- Fuel cells, by optimizing gas flow channels, material selection and system reliability.
- High-voltage cables, with the study of mutual impedance between conductors, Joule heating, and the optimization of manufacturing processes.
Equipment reliability, efficiency and safety
Whether it is a matter of improving the reliability of a component, increasing the efficiency of a process, or ensuring the safety of an electrical installation, each application has its own specific constraints.
The studies carried out by SIMTEC make it possible in particular to:
- optimize the performance of electromagnetic systems;
- improve the energy efficiency of processes;
- limit unwanted heating;
- enhance the reliability of electrical equipment;
- reduce the risks of failure or electrical arcing;
- support the development of new innovative products.
From miniaturized components to high-voltage installations, SIMTEC supports the development and optimization of electromagnetic applications across numerous industrial sectors.
